Duration: Self-paced — about 4 hours of reading, practice and quizzes across 7 chapters.

Format: Text lessons, short practice activities, a quiz after every chapter, a final assessment and a certificate of completion.

What the learner needs: A phone or computer with internet, and a free AI assistant: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot or Meta AI in WhatsApp. All have free versions.

Course outcomes

About Instructor

Akhona Eland

Akhona Eland is a Gen AI Engineer at Automation Architects in Cape Town, where he designs and deploys agentic AI systems that automate real business workflows for South African companies. He is the founder of JobAlertsZA, an AI platform that matches job seekers' CVs to live vacancies and applies on their behalf, and the creator of semantix-ai, an open-source Python library for checking what AI outputs actually mean. He previously worked as an AI researcher building generative AI solutions on Microsoft Azure, and as a software engineer. He built this course to help everyday South Africans use free AI tools on their phones to work smarter, and safely.
